Academy news Oct 28

Hello all, we are beginning the process of activating our returning instructors. To be clear we will only be accepting instructors that have a minimum commitment of at least 1 day a weekend or in the case of week day instructors at least two days per week. It is understood that if you’re here we expect you to be available to teach. And that a day commitment is a day not a half day.

Before you report to the pro room you will need; A proof of vaccination, a receipt from paying your dues, your paperwork can be completed in the pro rooml, please be sure you have all necessary info to so.

Covid situation at the hill.

Everyone 13 and up will be required to show proof of Vaccination in order to ski/ride or enter a lodge at Fortune. The Covid situation is much improved and will allow us to operate our programs, however the #s will be limited in an effort to reduce crowding. Students will be required to wear masks, allowing us to be in close proximity on chairs and such.

Instructors will be required to wear a mask at all times, be fully vaccinated, the pro room will be for instructors only which will allow us to relax over lunch time since no un vaccinated people will be allowed in. and the same sanitizing protocols will apply as last season. As well as the tracing log.

Returning instructors are invited to come to the pro room on the 13th,14th or the 20th 21st of Nov between 10 am and 2 pm.

  • Get forms filled in
  • show vaccine passport
  •  proof of certification
  •  discuss and confirm commitment.
  • Verify coordinates
  • Pick up coat and have your Pass reloaded.

New certified instructors should communicate with me via email. fbernier@campfortune.com

TAs (13 and 14) should communicate with,  maryjohannsen@hotmail.com in order to get on a list and be considered as a TA. We will want to know your age, name, email, and the day you wish to commit to, and of course whether you are a skier or a Boarder. Keep in mind that we will select a # of TAs reflecting the need of the programs and snowboard programs are less populated than ski programs, we may ask snowboarders to work on ski programs, (main function of TAs is to help get kids up a lift and assist in shepherding the groups down the hill. We will gather all TAs on one list the training/selection days will be put out in the December training schedule.

Looking forward to seeing the team back on snow.

Academy News oct 5

Salut à tous,

Bon je prends le temps de vous donner un peu d’information. I still don’t have definitive plans for the upcoming season. Group lessons are still on hold, but privates will go ahead.

As we get to the end of October, we should know what our needs are for this season, at that point we will communicate to our previous staff what spots (day, program,) need to be filled.

Once our first group (last seasons active list) has had a chance to choose /commit, we will open it up to the rest of the crowd on the Academy list.

TAs are part of the waiting game as we are not yet sure to be running Ski Wee.

New instructors will be considered once we know what our needs are.

People wishing to take their level 1, CSIA or CASI, courses will be offered. Dec 18, 19 and 20. A pre course will be offered earlier to help prepare for it. Details TBA.

I am sorry for the constant delay in our planning for this season, I wish I had more to tell you all.

Stay patient and with any luck we will be sliding and teaching.

All for now

Academy News sept 7

Bonjour a tous,

Nous voici presque au début d’une autre saison. Avec un peu de chance, elle sera plus intéressante que l’année passée.

This season will be an improvement from last season but limitations will still be in effect. We are hoping to have groups on weekends and private lessons as we did last season. It is a fluid situation as to what the Quebec rules for ski areas will be, however we remain confident.

We will require all instructors to be double vaccinated, prior to getting activated, so please be sure you are getting this done. We want our people to be as safe as possible.

I will be giving priority to last season’s group.

We are hoping to bring on some new people, but for now, it is just a matter of being on the blog and waiting.

Be patient and stay tuned, we will be sending out info.

For now, get vaxed, be up to date with the CSIA CSCF or CASI.

All for now

We will have info as to the upcoming season soon enough, as we are bidding our time waiting for government protocols to become clear for the ski industry.

My reason for sending this email is on a more sad note.

One of our past instructor has passed, Geoffrey Brennan. Geoffrey taught with us for a few years back, mainly during the week and some school breaks. He eventually spent most of his time at Tremblant.

I am sure you join me in expressing condolences to the family.

Academy News April 23

Season in review;

It was an odd season, with varying alert levels and continuous adjustments .Masking and sanitizing became routine and somehow we made it through.

Snow was good , lineups a bit long but we and the public adjusted to find the best time to slide.

It was hard not seeing so many familiar faces, so when people made it to the hill it was like reunion day . I believe those of us that were at the hill truly appreciated the chance to ski/ride and be outside.

Looking forward;

We will be running programs again.

Covid should be under control by then?

We can expect next season to be “the new normal”

What that means will be revealed as the season approaches.

I will communicate through the summer as needed.

Please be sure you are registered to follow the Blog

If anyone still has a coat contact me to arrange a return.

The Fern;

Runner up Marie Brule, skate board slip and run down Marshall.:😊

The winner Robin Bernstein, lost radio spy school dropout as well as snowing a photographer on a photo shoot. 😊😊

Thanks

This season showed us how people oriented we really are.

We appreciated seeing those that were here. And missed the gang that was not able to be here.

We noticed how much people appreciated getting a chance to ski/ride and just being outside.

I want to thank everyone for this past season, even if you were not able to be here, thank you for staying engaged.

We hope to have the gang back on snow next season.

Stay safe
