Notre réunion représente les premiers pas vers la saison blanche et une opportunité pour se remettre dans l’environnement de moniteur.

Salut tout le monde,

J’espère que vous profitez tous de votre été. Pour ma part, je mets certainement à profit mon temps sur l’eau à faire de la voile.

En envisageant la saison à venir, j’ai réfléchi à la façon dont nous pourrions mieux utiliser nos journées de formation en décembre. Bien que le système de sélection requis ne change pas, nous offrirons une formation supplémentaire aux candidats de niveau 2 et 3 pendant ces journées. Plus de détails suivront.

Voici ce qui est nouveau pour cette saison :

– Intro O Park SB : Un nouveau programme de 9 semaines pour le parc destiné aux planchiste intermédiaires.

– Programme 101 d’une journée complète (4 heures) : Une journée complète en décembre conçu pour permettre aux participants de monter sur les remontées et de fonctionner de manière autonome après la leçon.

– Camps de vacances de 3 jours : Ces camps auront désormais une structure à 3 débuts, en accord avec nos programmes du week-end.

– Test d’instructeur en ligne : Une nouvelle évaluation en ligne axée sur la connaissance du programme et la gestion des risques.

De plus, en vous préparant pour la saison, veuillez garder à l’esprit ces considérations sur ce qu’il faut pour être un bon instructeur :

 – Engagement : Réfléchissez au temps que vous souhaitez consacrer régulièrement. Améliorer vos compétences demande du temps et de la pratique, et l’expérience est essentielle.

 – Public : Pensez à votre intérêt pour partager votre expérience avec des débutants ou des novices. Les experts prennent rarement des cours.

– Communication et interaction : Enseigner n’est pas aussi facile que ça en a l’air. Les compétences en communication s’acquièrent avec l’expérience, et interagir avec les apprenants demande patience, engagement actif et empathie.

– Autoréflexion : Chaque leçon doit être une expérience d’apprentissage pour vous aussi. Prenez le temps de faire un débriefing après chaque séance.

– Développement des compétences : Vous ne pouvez pas enseigner au-delà de votre niveau de compréhension. Vos opportunités d’enseignement s’élargiront au fur et à mesure que vos compétences, votre confiance et vos capacités de communication se développeront.

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I am certainly making good use of my time out on the water sailing.

As I look ahead to the upcoming season, I have been considering how we can make better use of our training days in December. While the required selection system is not changing, we will be providing additional training for Level 2 and 3 candidates during these days. More details on this will follow.

Here is what is new for this season:

  – Intro 2 Park SB: A new 9-week park program designed for intermediate riders.
  – All-Day (4-Hour) 101 Program: A full-day program in December designed to get participants riding the lift and operating independently.
  – 3-Day Holiday Camps: These camps will now feature a 3-start structure, aligning with our weekend programs.
  – Online Instructor Test: A new online evaluation focusing on program knowledge and risk management.

Additionally, as you prepare for the season, please keep these considerations in mind on what it takes to be a good instructor:

  – Commitment: Consider how much time you wish to commit on a regular basis. Improving your skills requires time on task, and mileage is key.
  – Audience: Reflect on your interest in sharing your experience with beginner and novice riders or skiers. Experts rarely take lessons.
  – Communication & Engagement: Teaching is not as easy as it looks. Communication skills are acquired through experience, and engaging with learners requires patience, active engagement, and empathy.
  – Self-Reflection: Every lesson should be a learning experience for you as well. Take the time to debrief yourself afterward.
  – Skill Development: You cannot teach above your level of understanding. Your opportunities to teach will expand as your skills, confidence, and communication abilities develop.

Je vais récupérer les mugs gravés et nos trophées ce matin. Nous serons prêts pour notre rencontre de remise des prix samedi à 17h, merci d’arriver vers 16h30, car nous voudrions commencer à l’heure à 17h. Nous utiliserons l’ancien bar à côté du parking supérieur. 

Les retours de manteau peuvent être effectués au local de moniteur, entre 15h30 et 16h30. 

Les parents et les anciens instructeurs sont les bienvenus/incités à participer, des collations et des boissons gazeuses seront disponibles ainsi qu’un bar à alcool pour les plus âgé. 

Je prévois de terminer vers 18h30. 

J’espère voir la participation habituelle et j’ai vraiment hâte de remercier tout le monde.

I am picking up the engraved mugs and our trophies this morning. We will be all set for our Awards social Saturday at 5 pm, please arrive by 430 or so, as we would want to start on time at 5. We will be using the old bar side next to the upper parking lot.

Jacket returns can be done in the pro room between 330 and 430 in the pro room.

Parents and instructor alumni are welcome/encouraged to attend, snacks and soft drinks as well as a cash bar for the older crowd.

I expect to be done by 630 or so.

Hoping to see the usual turn out and I am seriously looking forward to saying thanks to all.

Un petit rappel que notre soirée de remise des prix aura lieu le samedi 25 avril. Nous sommes maintenant officiellement fermés pour la saison. Toute personne qui doit encore retourner des manteaux peut le faire ce même jour—veuillez les déposer au local des moniteurs entre 15h30 et 16h30, avant le début de la remise des prix.

Les prix, et l’occasion de vous remercier tous, sont vraiment ce que j’attends avec impatience. J’espère que nous aurons une bonne participation.

Nous nous rassemblerons à 16h30, avec les présentations commençant à 17h00. Attendez-vous à des collations et des boissons non alcoolisées, ainsi qu’aux friandises habituelles de SJ et Patti. Le service au bar sera disponible pour les plus âgés.

Les anciens élèves sont les bienvenus pour venir saluer de vieux amis, et les parents sont invités à rester et applaudir les gagnants.

A quick reminder that our Awards Night is on Saturday, April 25th. We are now officially closed for the season. Anyone who still needs to return jackets can do so that same day—please drop them off in the pro room between 3:30 and 4:30 PM, before the awards begin.

The awards, and the chance to thank all of you, are truly what I look forward to. I hope we have a great turnout for the social.

We’ll gather at 4:30 PM, with presentations starting at 5:00 PM. Expect snacks and soft drinks, along with the usual treats from SJ and Patti. Bar service will be available for the older crowd.

Alumni are very welcome to come say hello to old friends, and parents are invited to stay and applaud the winners.
