Hello all,

Last weekend was a great one the weather was with us and the turn out was strong. The weather today is less cheerful but not to worry it will pass and the groomers will fix it up .

The Norm Grondin Foundation “socials” were a success. and we raised just under 500$ for the fund, thank you to all that contributed.

The hill will be open on wednesday, and our programs will run.

Any extra help for Monday (family day) would be nice, if you’re up here we may be able to use you for a private. And on Tuesday morning we can also use a couple of extras at 9 am for a large group, so if your planning on being here we appreciate the help.

Remember to bring a few bucks for the Norm Grondin Foundation socials on both Sat and Sun after the last lesson.

Academy News Feb 8

Hi all,

We are now entering week 5 of the programs, it’s always a good idea to remind ourselves that we like teaching skiing/snowboarding, the weather is nice and we have great snow. Time to get the mileage in and have them learn by doing. You all should have a progress card to look at and on those cards are drills and milestones that can serve as lesson plans, please use them.

You will find Handbook and Progress card and drills on our web page https://cfskiacademy.wordpress.com/about/academy-document-library/

Please be aware of lift safety and group management , it’s always our concern and reminding ourselves should be perpetual. Please go over the manual and take note of the accident protocol as well as lost student protocol, again , this is a constant.

As for emails and how to contact supervisors see the handbook , the English is up to date, still working on “le Manuel Francais”.

In closing ; be early, be engaged , have a plan , make it fun.

Academy News Jan 15

Hello all,

To begin, I want to thank all that were here for our first weekend of group lessons. It’s a big deal to get all those people organized and everyone involved plays an important part in creating some good experiences for our guests.  THANK YOU !!!!

Quote from a Parent;  Enjoyed the first day of lessons today.  Great job on the grooming and lots of runs open!  Nice to see the dedicated and enthusiastic instructors out with the kids.

Another Parent came to me to praise a couple of our Ski Wee instructors. For being very professional in dealing with a very demanding / bossy mom.

Over 2000 people started lessons over the weekend, things went quite well and with a few adjustment will be better next weekend.

There are few things to address so in no particular order, I will attempt to answer some questions .

  • For various reasons some instructors did not get a full slate of groups.
  • They may have missed the 6 and 7th of Jan weekend.
  • They may not have been certified until  later.
  • Or they simply chose not to be here until the last minute.
  • For those that have no groups or only one group, always drop by Privates to see if you can pick up a walk in.
  • Every instructor should be here for the full day of their committed day regardless of having a class or not.
  • Because if you’re not available you will not get the chance to get a group that may become available.

But the main thing that all of our people should understand is as an instructor/ coach you choose to make yourself available on certain days and we the school will assign groups/ lessons/ privates to you based on experience and availability. It will take some time for you to learn the ropes and get comfortable with the system.

  • The Gold coats were handed out to some of our new instructors  we just did not have enough green coats. You can be sure that I am wanting to switch you to green as soon as possible.

Academy News

Hello all,

This weekend is our big start, we expect to see all of our people here for 8 am.

I would like to solicit a few people to handle the snow school pass table in the main lodge. Would the usual suspects let me know if they are available. I can use 3 per day.

Any instructor not assigned to a group should be at the privates meeting area and will be assigned from there.

There is a Free Tactics course being offered on the 23, 24 25 of jan in the evenings deadline to sign up is this coming Sunday. You can register on  snowpro.com .

Free Tactics / Snowpark intro

Learn an approach to developing skiers that is fun and free!

  • Learn to teach entry level basics in the park: safety, flatboxes, introduction to air.
  • Add to your teaching toolbox with Free Tactics knowledge – creative skill development, features and terrain as development tools, switch skiing.
  • You will have the opportunity to try entry level park feature, and discuss them as teaching tools.
  • The training provides the tools to take students into the terrain park safely and teach the basics.

Looking forward to a great start to our 9 week program,
