Academy News – Mar 11, 18

Hi All:

March break reminder: Meeting at 9 am Monday. For those working please be on time – the pro room will be open as of 8:15 AM. Thank you in advance to all who signed up to work.

Lift Evac feedback: Saturday’s events were something the area plans for, but hopes to never have to do. I want to say that all went well, our planning and the execution of the plan went as well as can be expected. Thank you to all the people that found themselves on evac crews, and also those that made sure the rest of the school kept functioning throughout the  process.

I was very impressed with the team work. A special mention for Maxime Cordier, he kept his student warm by removing his jacket to cover him, great job – if you have to miss school due to catching a cold, we can give you a note.

Remember that the season keeps on ticking;

  • March break programs
  • Weekend Privates
  • Kids up front
  • Academy Banquet
  • Pro race

I want to thank everyone for finishing the 9 week program – as we all know your individual efforts make the difference for all the clients we teach .

We will be accepting instructor jacket returns as of the 23, 24 and 25th of March , clean and on a hanger. Or any weekend until the 7th of April.

For those of you who have pictures of instructors on snow and wish to share them, please send them to academy@campfortune.com and we will create a slideshow for the banquet.

All for now

Frank

ACADEMY NEWS – MARCH 7, 18

Hey all,

The last week of programs is here, but we are not finished our season yet , this week was the Quebec break and next week is the Ont. Break. Thanks to those that have committed to work those weeks, we could use a few more for the Ontario week. So don’t be shy let us know we can count on you. On weekends we are still providing privates and beginner specials.

If you’re working Ont. break, please be here for the 9am meeting.

As well we will have special events going that may require help.

A few dates to remember;

March 24th we are host a ‘Kids up Front “ ski day”, we will need instructors to teach 100 kids how to ski. It will be a fun day helping some young people get their first experience on snow.

March 25th Card board sled race, we have 60 entries and will need to put together an event crew to handle things.

Easter egg hunt will also require a few bodies, more details to follow.

Date Change:

Due to scheduling problems, the Academy Banquet has been moved to April 6, 2018. Tickets are $25 per person and pre-paid reservations can be made at the Cage (debit or credit only please).

Pro race on the Sunday the 8th of April.

All for now

ACADEMY NEWS – FEB 28, 18

Hello all,

Have a list of important items to cover. As we enter the last month and a half of the season, we need to be aware of the following :

March Breaks begin next week with QC (Mar 5-8), and the following week for ON (Mar 12-15). If you’re keen, sign up at the cage.

I am taking awards nominations: please send your nominations to fbernier@campfortune.comBanquet is on the 7th of April.

Important to know that the season extends well past the 9 week programs with lots of opportunities to work during the march breaks and privates on weekends into April.

Joe, Josh and Eva really appreciated the extra help last weekend – thank you very much to everyone who covered classes. We are looking for help again this coming weekend from 4 instructors on Saturday and 1-2 on Sunday. Contact Joe.McLean@mail.pwbcorp.com

Jacket return will start the weekend of the 24th and 25th of March. And the last weekend for returns will be April 8th. IMPORTANT: the last paycheck will actually be a check, not direct deposit, and will require you to hand in your coat in order to pick up your pay.  We expect the coat to be washed and on a hanger.

All for now.

Hey all,

Attached are a couple of pictures of our winning TAs – Christophe Lepage Bilodeau and Laura Davies from last season receiving their $277 checks to pay for half of the level 1 course they took in Dec. .

Congrats to both!!!

There are Level 2 courses scheduled for the end of March break on the 17th and 18th – both the training course and the assessed training course will be offered. So you can get started towards your level 2 or complete it if you’re ready to go for exams.

Academy News Feb 8

Hi all,

We are now entering week 5 of the programs, it’s always a good idea to remind ourselves that we like teaching skiing/snowboarding, the weather is nice and we have great snow. Time to get the mileage in and have them learn by doing. You all should have a progress card to look at and on those cards are drills and milestones that can serve as lesson plans, please use them.

You will find Handbook and Progress card and drills on our web page https://cfskiacademy.wordpress.com/about/academy-document-library/

Please be aware of lift safety and group management , it’s always our concern and reminding ourselves should be perpetual. Please go over the manual and take note of the accident protocol as well as lost student protocol, again , this is a constant.

As for emails and how to contact supervisors see the handbook , the English is up to date, still working on “le Manuel Francais”.

In closing ; be early, be engaged , have a plan , make it fun.
