Well here we are the last week of our 9 week programs, this season seems to have flown by. I know many of you will be costumed and so will many of the kids, it’s always cool to see everyone having fun on the last day of lessons.

Remember we are having a social after lessons pizza beer and soft drinks, we are using this event to raise funds for our Norm Grondin Bursary Foundation, so please bring some $$$ to purchase a snack and a drink. This will happen both Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets for the banquet are on sale at the cage, April 16th is the date 25$ is the cost. Send any awards nominees to me at fbernier@campfortune.com .

Once the 9 week program is done, we are still teaching privates and beginner specials, we also have the Ont. march break (March 14 to 18) and we are still looking for people to help out on the Ontario week . It’s important to realize that when coming out to the hill we will expect that your available to teach if needed. Many hands make for light work and the great spring weather will be with us for the next month.

As promised the weather will be great this weekend , looking forward to seeing a big turn out as well as good attendance for the Social/Fundraiser.

All for now

Hello all,
The snow is great and the rain did not damage conditions :D . This being week 8 we will be handing out the feedback sheets along with Academy stickers and a voucher for the Aerial Park.
Look forward to seeing all over the weekend. On Sunday we will have a large group of beginners and we will need to man the carpet area to help these people get some notion of turning and stopping before they head up a chairlift. To that end I would be happy to see as many hands on deck as possible, privates will also be busy. So spending an off day at the hill would be appreciated.
The Academy Banquet is set for the 16th of April, cost 25$. Tickets are on sale at the cage. Awards are a big part of the evening and your input is appreciated, so I encourage you to nominate instructors with a short reasoning and email me at fbernier@campfortune.com .

Awards are;

  • Ski Wee (male &female),
  • All Mtn (male &female),
  • All Mtn Performance,
  • Adult,

  • Privates,
  • Lifetime Achievement Award,

Academy News – Feb 21, 16

Hello all,

Some news for the next few weeks:

Dates to keep in mind.
End of Programs: 5th and 6th of March: we will hold a social after the 3rd lesson of the day in the pro room ( 4 to 5 or so). The goal is to raise funds for the Norm Grondin Memorial Foundation Bursary Program. To that end we will have; pizza, soft drinks and beer available for a small donation.
Donations are also accepted at the cage- please keep in mind that this is a school initiative that supports our top TAs and helps them pay for their level 1. So be sure to have some coin to contribute.

Quebec March Break –  Feb. 29th to March 5th: we will be happy to see instructors come out and help out with lessons, register at the cage.

Ontario March Break –   14th to 18th: we will be happy to see instructors come out and help out with lessons, register at the cage.

As we come to the end of the programs it’s very important to remember that it’s how we finish that’s important, our customers will go away with a great feeling and that’s what will bring them back next year. For the last few weeks be sure goals are attained, have fun, explore new runs and do your usual great job.

The Academy Banquet is set for April 16th , price $25. We will be looking into running a bus for this event, but first we need to know if it’s of interest to enough people, so if you think it would be convenient please check in at the cage.

The Fern Award: given to the person that has had the best adventure/bad luck/poor decision making event of the season. If you have a nominee please forward a short story about it to me. This is by applause and the more entries we have the more entertaining it is.

Monday evening session, I will not be able to do again this week, maybe the next week…

We will be holding an information and recruiting day on Sunday the 20th , if you have friends that would be interested let them know. If you’re a TA this is also a good day to take training. This is a free daylong session to evaluate skills and inform people as to how to get involved with the school. More details to follow.

Important Payroll Information

Hi All:

The T4’s and RL1’s for 2015 have now been processed.  This year we have gone paperless, so Academy instructors will need to log in to their self-service account to retrieve their  T4A ‘s and RL1’s.    It is very easy to use, after logging to your Payworks account, simply select Tax Forms on the home page and then select T4 and RL1.

If anyone has forgotten their user name and password they will have to contact Tracey by email, ttrudeau@campfortune.com

Hi all,

As we enter week 6, it’s now time to begin thinking about the evaluation forms we will be giving the pupils, your supervisors will be coordinating this with you. To be ready to write a few words on each of your pupils, be sure to take a few notes during the lesson in order to remember easily when writing on the forms. The goal is to have report cards handed out on week 8.

The Academy Banquet is set for the 16th of April, new this year, we are looking into running a bus from downtown Ottawa. In hopes of getting more of our younger crowd, we will need to know how many would be interested in paying for the service and if we have enough will go ahead with a bus. First step will be to sign up for it in order for us to consider renting a bus. Cost would be approx 10$. We will start a list of interested people at the cage so let us know if you may want to do this.

This is Family day weekend, this means we may be busy on Monday, so if able please come and ski/ride and while here pick up a few lessons.

This weekend will be coolish, so have your warm gear ready to go, also, since we will no doubt need to bring kids in for a warm up, be organized and try to get back out as quickly as possible. To stay warm; be active on the slopes, keep them moving , hopping, i.e. working hard.

As in past years we will be counting on our instructors to donate $’s to the Norm Grondin Memorial Foundation Bursary. This is the fund that provides financial support to the TA’s of the year towards taking their Level one. $’s will be collected at the Cage. Norm cared about our TAs and their training and this bursary is a fitting tribute to him as well as a unique initiative by the school. Let’s keep it going.

That’s it for now, see you on the weekend.

All for now,

Frank
