Important Payroll Information

Hi All:

The T4’s and RL1’s for 2015 have now been processed.  This year we have gone paperless, so Academy instructors will need to log in to their self-service account to retrieve their  T4A ‘s and RL1’s.    It is very easy to use, after logging to your Payworks account, simply select Tax Forms on the home page and then select T4 and RL1.

If anyone has forgotten their user name and password they will have to contact Tracey by email, ttrudeau@campfortune.com

Academy News – Feb 11, 16

Hi all,

As we enter week 6, it’s now time to begin thinking about the evaluation forms we will be giving the pupils, your supervisors will be coordinating this with you. To be ready to write a few words on each of your pupils, be sure to take a few notes during the lesson in order to remember easily when writing on the forms. The goal is to have report cards handed out on week 8.

The Academy Banquet is set for the 16th of April, new this year, we are looking into running a bus from downtown Ottawa. In hopes of getting more of our younger crowd, we will need to know how many would be interested in paying for the service and if we have enough will go ahead with a bus. First step will be to sign up for it in order for us to consider renting a bus. Cost would be approx 10$. We will start a list of interested people at the cage so let us know if you may want to do this.

This is Family day weekend, this means we may be busy on Monday, so if able please come and ski/ride and while here pick up a few lessons.

This weekend will be coolish, so have your warm gear ready to go, also, since we will no doubt need to bring kids in for a warm up, be organized and try to get back out as quickly as possible. To stay warm; be active on the slopes, keep them moving , hopping, i.e. working hard.

As in past years we will be counting on our instructors to donate $’s to the Norm Grondin Memorial Foundation Bursary. This is the fund that provides financial support to the TA’s of the year towards taking their Level one. $’s will be collected at the Cage. Norm cared about our TAs and their training and this bursary is a fitting tribute to him as well as a unique initiative by the school. Let’s keep it going.

That’s it for now, see you on the weekend.

All for now,

Frank

Academy News – Feb 4, 16

Hello all,

We are now entering week 5 of our school season, most of our classes are now on the chairlift, so now it’s a matter of mileage and skill development. Key words are: keep moving, make sure you’re turning , explore new terrain and have fun. Supervisors will be asking you to begin filling out evaluations soon, so it’s a good idea to take some notes about your pupils in order to have pertinent info to add to your forms when the time comes.
Parent interactions: be sure parents get feedback as to their kids progress.
Group management: be sure the weaker pupils have positive feedback, also ensure the stronger ones get challenged.

The Spring Fling trip to Banff is postponed to next year, I only had three expressions of interest, perhaps I will start the process earlier and we can make it happen next season.

Monday session: this week’s theme “ Ski Play” we will explore different ways to build skills by approaching skiing as a game. As usual be in the pro room by 6:30 to pick up a ticket and we will be on snow 7 to 9 pm.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the weekend.

All for now

Frank

Academy News – Feb 1, 16

Hey all,

I would like to thank everyone for a great weekend of teaching, the weather was great and I believe we met the expectations of our guests. GOOD JOB and thank you.

The large group we had on Sunday went off well and again thanks for the extra help . I believe it had an impact on our friends from Carleton University , helping them somewhat master turning and stopping .

A reminder to sign up for the March breaks if you’re able to help. We can use a few extra bodies on Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks to Mary for the butterscotch squares.

Academy News – Jan 30, 16

Hi all,

We can use some extra help tomorrow morning , there is a big group coming and we seem to have a lot of people that need to study…

This coming Monday I will not be holding a session although if you’re interested in skiing come out and get a ticket before 6:30, the pro room will be open until 9 pm .

Interesting opportunity to take a spring fling out to Banff in April.

SKICAN has been asking me to run a trip for years and this year I have taken the step of asking for a quote. We are looking at the second half of April departure on a Sunday return on Friday evening. I know the ski conditions are still winter-like at that time of year. And I think it could be a fun way to end the season.

I will need firm expressions of interest before next Wednesday the 3rd of Feb. in order to gauge if this is realistic. A $500 deposit will be required by the 10th of Feb and complete payment by March 1st. All are welcome to come ski/ride with us. Please let me know if you’re interested at fbernier@campfortune.com

Camp Fortune Banff Spring Fling April: $1,350 per person*

We can arrange for the the luggage to be loaded onto the charter bus from the Lodge that morning and guests picked up directly from Norquay that afternoon at 2:00 pm so that they can enjoy most of the day skiing.

Single supplement =  Add $315.

Hello all,

More hills opening this weekend and the weather looks good. So I am hoping to see as many of you as possible over the weekend. On that note I would remind all that a commitment is a commitment , I understand that exams are important, but I also know that evenings are open for studying. We ask for a 9 day availability, I don’t feel it’s that much to ask. Just saying ?!
I would ask that for the next week or so if anyone is able to be here on an off day to let Joe In All Mtn know. Text or call him at 613-261-9278.

The Park is now operational. I would ask that anyone with small children stay out of the jump line. Ski Wee kids are often too small to go up and over the rollers and will be at risk if they fall. Please use skiers’ left if skiing/riding in the park and be sure your kids are safe at all times.

I am looking for an instructor to do privates every Sunday at 11:20, this is for a 3 year old that can ski. This would be for multiple weeks, contact me if you are not otherwise booked.

To all those that have groups on the carpet, it’s now time to get up a chairlift and put in some mileage. To be sure, check with your supervisors to be sure it appropriate. Also I was noticing a few instructor teaching at the bottom in ski boots only, although it may seem easier and you feel more mobile , it’s better to have your skis on in order to demonstrate and ski backwards to support your pupils if needed.

All for now, see you on the weekend.

March Break Camps

Hello all,

In an effort to prepare for the Quebec and Ontario March breaks, I would like to ask those that can be available to teach to register with the “cage” either by phone or in person. 819-827-1717 xt 2223

Quebec break is the 29 Feb. to the 4th of march.
Ontario break is the 14th to the 18th of march.

Both weeks offer a 3, 4 or 5 day program, morning or afternoon.

We need to know how many days you can be here, i.e. Monday through Wednesday or Monday to Thursday or Friday.

Again I ask that you give us this info as soon as you can to allow us to plan how many people we can take on.

All for now

Hello all,

Snowmaking up date:  we will have Canadian, the Chute and all of Clifford open for the weekend and the park as well. Weather should be good so we can look forward to a great turn out from our pupils.
Friday is a PD day so if you’re able we would be happy to see you at the hill, as we can expect more privates than usual. Please let the cage know if you can be there 819-827-1717 ext 2223
Sat and Sun Morning sessions are on, 8 am at the Clifford chair. Also I am running a skills development session this coming Monday evening, steering/separation will be the focus. Be in pro room by 630 we will be on snow 7 to 9.

I have a pair of Scott poles in my office(blue and black) someone took them by mistake and returned them.

And let’s not forget the food drive, please think of dropping off some non perishable food in the pro room. It’s a small thing and the Food bank is very appreciative of our efforts to help out.
