Acdemy News – Dec 3, 17

Hey all,

Yesterday’s Hiring Clinic was well attended. Great to see so many new people planning on joining our team, hoping that we see you all take the pre-course,  and work towards your certification.

Je veux aussi souligner que les sessions pour les aides moniteur,  moniteur et le pré-stage, débute la fin de semaine prochaine. So to that end, I would expect our staff to be here over the next couple of weekends in order to get up to speed technically and be ready for the holiday season .

Privates Program, these are the instructors that commit to privates and get booked for Sat and or Sun all winter. if your able to commit contact Roger or SJ for now please contact sjnormand@gmail.com

All program supervisors will be drafting people from the active list so be sure you get organized in order to be selected, this does not apply to our new candidates you will be added in as you get cert.

Academy News – March 3, 17

Hey all,

It’s the last week of our 9 week programs. This last memory is largely what they will remember of the season spent with us, so it’s very important to finish strong and be sure we plant the seed for next season.

I can tell all of you that I have had a very positive winter with very few negative issues that have  needed my attention, and that means you all did a great job teaching/entertaining your people.

Be sure you give out the report cards and stickers. Please return any remaining cards to your supervisor.

As the programs come to an end, the season marches on – we still have; Ontario March break week, walk-in privates to teach and a few special events like the pro race and masters finals.

Be sure you get/reserve your banquet ticket and book April 8th for the Awards dinner. Please buy/reserve now – 25$ cash at the Cage.

If you are certain of not returning before the banquet, you can leave your coat this weekend, otherwise do it on the last day you work. And that being said the season is far from over.

Still looking for award nominations. Once the list of nominees is complete I will post it on the blog.

All for now,

Frank

Academy News -February 15,

Hey all,

As we approach the Family day weekend, I would  ask that those of you that teach one day a weekend be kind enough to come out on both days. It would be a great help to the supervisors if people were to give us a bit of extra time to make up for the absent instructors.

We will also need extra bodies on Monday as its Family day and we will have lots of lessons, many hands make light work.

Also please note that we will have a meeting both Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:15 to go over our new report cards.

All Mountain info below;  and I am sure Ski Wee will need spare instructors also.

“Can you please post a request for instructors will to help out with the All Mountain program this weekend.

Looking for 3 or 4 instructors for Saturday, 5-6 for Sunday.

Please request them to contact me at either, joe.mclean@pwbcorp.com or 613-261-9278.”

We will also need a few extra Snowboard Instructors  for tomorrow during the day – if you are able to help out please let the cage know at 819-827-1717 ext 2223 or academy@campfortune.com

The Academy banquet is set for the 8th of April, more details to follow.

We are having a great year, let’s keep it going. Have to say its perhaps the best season ever as far as our team goes. Keep up the good work all.

All for now see you on the weekend.

Frank

Academy News – Jan 5, 2017

Hi All:

The sun is shining, the snow is down and groomed, lifts are running, it’s program time again…  now all I need is a melody…

Yup, it’s that time of year when the (local) world flocks to Camp Fortune to learn how to ski/board. And you know what that means – all instructors boots on boards, ready to teach.

For Saturday and Sunday, please be in the Pro for 8AM to pick up your ticket and meet with your supervisor – don’t worry if you don’t know who your supervisor is, you will meet him/her that morning.

After skiing ( on both days) we will be hosting a little fund-raising soiree in the Pro room at 4 PM. There will be pizza, beer and soft drinks available for a nominal fee (Pizza $2, Pop $1, Beer $5). The proceeds of this event go to the Norm Grondin Foundation – a foundation that helps ski/board Teaching Assistants to move up to the next level and take the CSIA or CASI Level 1 Course (for more information click here).

We are looking for people to work during the full-time period (Monday to Friday, 9 to 4) 2- 3 days a week. Interested people should contact the Cage at academy@campfortune.com or talk to Eric Trottier.

Th-th-thats all Folks…

Howard (subbing for the way-to-busy Frank)

Academy News

I would like to announce that Yolanda Gaiarsa will be stepping down from her role as Ski Wee supervisor. Yolanda has not come to this decision easily; she would like to focus on family life and tells me we will see her at the hill from time to time.
I would like to thank Yo for the twenty + years she has put into the school. As a member of the supervisor team she was instrumental in quite a few evolutions over the time, not the least of which was he collaboration in creating our instructors handbook.
I and our overall group will be losing a valuable player but this is the natural progression of things and I completely understand that the commitment required to supervise at some point becomes hard to balance against three kids growing and involved in other activities.
So Thank you Yolanda for all the time you gave us and look forward to sliding with you when you drop by to take a few runs with Andrew and the kids.
